Just west of the castle rock at Devín the Morava/March arrives from the north. Czech, Slovak and Austrian catchment between the Bohemian highlands, the Carpathians and the Pannonian edge: 26,658 km². ICPDR flags the confluence as ecologically rich. Downstream the slope collapses and the river dumps gravel as the Little Alföld island-delta (Szigetköz / Žitný ostrov). Bratislava is the hydrologic hinge from Alpine collector to Pannonian plain.
