Use the measurements for questions, not as a verdict

Waterlogged shows a current reading, its measured movement over the last 72 hours, and where that sits against a level we calculate ourselves from a published reference pair and a stated draught assumption. That gap is arithmetic about today. It is not a prediction of the water on your sailing date, not a forecast, and not a prediction, guarantee or representation of what any operator will decide.

This site does not publish outcome percentages, seasonal odds, coloured risk calls or estimates of what you may be owed. It did once; those surfaces were withdrawn because we could not stand behind them for a consumer decision. The engine that produced them still runs internally as research and publishes nothing.

Do not use Waterlogged as the sole reason to book, cancel, rebook, change insurance, make a claim or incur expense. Check the operator's current written communication and the documents attached to your own booking. Seek a qualified professional where a decision could cause material loss. Never use this service to navigate or move a vessel.

Operator and consumer-law material

Operator-policy panels are Waterlogged's dated commentary on the public documents identified beside them. They are not the operator's advice, a contract interpretation, or a statement of entitlement. Versions and regional terms differ and sources can be incomplete or withdrawn. Historical examples show only what was reported in a particular event; they do not establish a promise, normal practice or likely result for another passenger.

Waterlogged does not calculate a refund, credit, hotel entitlement or insurance payout, and publishes no worked money example. Regional consumer-law notes are research pointers to verify, not legal conclusions, and nothing here decides eligibility, claim value, tax, currency conversion, legal rights or the best course of action.

A Waterlogged scenario is not an operator cancellation notice. If a passenger cancels before the operator acts, the ordinary passenger-cancellation scale may apply. Operators may use a replacement vessel, coach, hotel, port or itinerary without creating an automatic refund. The applicable remedy can depend on booking market, contract version, cause, timing, operator action and mandatory law; obtain the operator's proposal in writing before making a decision.

Independent service

Waterlogged River Cruise Watch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by any cruise line, insurer, water authority or data portal named on the site. Names and trademarks identify the relevant sailing, operator or source and remain the property of their owners. No insurance product, quote, referral or affiliate link is offered in this release.

River-data sources and credits

• PEGELONLINE / WSV. Live German gauge observations under DL-DE-Zero 2.0. The licence does not require attribution; Waterlogged nevertheless displays this provenance credit: Data source: Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes (WSV), PEGELONLINE. WSV describes its historical downloadable readings as unverified raw data and disclaims their correctness, accuracy, currency, reliability and completeness.
• Bavarian GKD. Long-history series under CC BY 4.0. Required credit: Datenquelle: Bayerisches Landesamt für Umwelt, www.lfu.bayern.de. Waterlogged transformations and any errors in them are ours; no endorsement is implied. See the GKD terms.
• BfG. Current and historical forecast data is freely usable under CC BY 4.0. The required credit is exactly Bundesanstalt für Gewässerkunde (BfG). A shown current forecast names its own issue date and time from the CSV header. BfG forecast values are displayed with that credit and issue date and time. They remain BfG's official forecasts: Waterlogged makes no forecast of its own, and BfG forecast values do not feed our scoring.
• viadonau / DoRIS. viadonau's published reuse permission covers the Kienstock gauge values obtained via DoRIS or the Pegeldaten-API. The credit Quelle: viadonau suffices. The permission holds for any future form of this service.
• hydroinfo.hu / OVF. Waterlogged has received permission from Országos Vízügyi Főigazgatóság (OVF) / General Directorate of Water Management to publish water-level data provided the content accurately reflects reality and the source is credited. Required credit: Országos Vízügyi Főigazgatóság (OVF) / General Directorate of Water Management. A modified or derived figure must state that the input data originate from the General Directorate of Water Management, and Budapest's seasonal curve, history panel and record sentence each do. Current Budapest readings reach this site through EuRIS and show the OVF credit beside EuRIS's own.
• EuRIS Hydrometeo v3. It is the pilot source for Budapest and Kienstock. The publicly provided water levels, used as they are in a free service, need no written approval. EuRIS adds no restriction of its own beyond the originator's terms. Required credit: API/Service Hydrometeo v3 incorporated from EuRIS (eurisportal.eu). EuRIS identifies OVF and viadonau as originators, and both have separately granted reuse of their series in writing. These terms cover this free service as offered today; any change in how the service is offered would be evaluated with EuRIS first.
• ELWIS / GDWS. Its content is OpenData. Commercial reuse is permitted only when the content is unaltered and credited www.elwis.de. Deep links are unrestricted. A short quote may be shown word for word with that credit and a link. A paraphrase counts as an alteration and is not permitted, so Waterlogged does not restate ELWIS notice content in its own words. Every displayed observation should show its measurement time and source state. A stale or missing required input withdraws the affected route assessment rather than silently substituting another gauge. Historical source files are preserved before parsing; derived values are labelled as Waterlogged processing.

Availability, corrections and legal terms

Data feeds and this pilot can be late, unavailable or wrong. Report a suspected error before you rely on it. A source, model or operator-document correction may change a report without the river changing at all. The warranty and liability terms are in the Terms of Use, and personal-data handling is in the Privacy Notice. Mandatory consumer rights still apply.

Waterlogged is a free public information service. There is nothing here to buy and no account to open.
